Everlast Pro Style MMA Grappling Gloves : Everlast Pro Style MMA Grappling Gloves, Small/Medium, (Black) Reviews
14 of 15 people found the following review helpful Spar your hands off with these, By WM "Prince" (CA, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Everlast Pro Style MMA Grappling Gloves (Sports) Title boxing gloves weren't so great for me sparring, it was too clumsy, too slow, and it gave a great advantage to the other guy in clinches. I needed MMA gloves fast, so i went out on a limb and bought these. They were affordable, and made by everlast, so what could go wrong?Apparently not much. These gloves were every stiff when i first put them on, but they soften and conform after a couple matches. They are very light, 4 oz, which made my jabs killer quick , and most of all, they gave me the ability to grab during clinches and grapples. The padding is a bit hard (softens after a bit) but it does provide mediocre protection, again, these arn't really bag gloves so for sparring they are perfect. No padding for the thumb means you have to be careful to keep your thumbs tight against your fist when punching or blocking. Also the split palm design helps tremendously with cleaning and evaporation so my hands don't get as sweaty. Overall, a killer glove... I actually paid $30 + tax at Sports Chalet, but you can get them cheaper at Amazon. These were my needs in an MMA Glove: 1) Comfortable - These gloves are very comfortable. I wear the S/M sized gloves and that's a perfect fit for me. 2) Enough padding to protect my training partner's face - In my MMA class, we roll pretty hard, but we can't hit too hard to the body and especially the face. So I wanted it to be soft enough just in case I accidentally hit someone too hard in the face. 3) I have to be able to grapple in them - These gloves do not get in the way or hinder my grappling. 4) In the $25 - $60 range - Got these for $30. I don't mind that it's synthetic leather. All that means to me is that no animals were killed in making this product. These gloves are perfect for me! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Really, really good for the price., By Bess "Somewhere In The Universe" (Probably) - See all my reviews This review is from: Everlast Pro Style MMA Grappling Gloves (Sports) First things first:I'm an XXXL Heavyweight and I do punch very, very hard. As someone just starting out, though, my technique is admittedly garbage and I often wind up landing strikes at glancing, bizarre angles. As a result of this unfortunate combo of high power and low technique, 'cheap' MMA/Grappling gloves last about an hour before they're ready for the trash. Someone recommended I buy these. I have beaten the tar out of them, they've held up fine. Sorry to the others who got unlucky and had defective units but I'd suggest taking them back and starting over with a new pair. I'm a 24 Karat Glove Ruiner and these are my go-to pair for training. As far as the size for the L/XL, yes, they are gigantic but these aren't 'pretend' gloves. They're made for real world use, which is usually going to involve wraps. I still use them pretty regularly without wraps and just ignore the bit of overlap from my pinky outward. I deduct one star because they should... Read more |
