I have used them for over a month and they have held up well. I spend 8-10 hours boxing each week and they have shown to be very durable. I got the gloves in 16-ounce weight because that is required for sparring. After sparring with them for some time, they are much better than other gloves I have tried. The cushioning on these gloves is much better than my previous ones, so they're ideal for sparring. As for bag work, the gloves have great wrist support. The fit is also perfect for me. Although the strap is very short, it is flexible. Overall, these gloves were a good investment and I'll hope to follow up after another few months of using them. 27 of 31 people found the following review helpful Buy them ONLY if you want them as bag gloves, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Everlast ProTex2 EverGel Training Gloves (Sports) From my experiences training with these gloves over a four month time span, I would say that they need to be classified solely as bag gloves and used only for that purpose. I purchased them to replace a pair of cheap gloves that I had been using for over a year and a half as an upgrade and treat for myself. Instead, for the first time in my life, I began having some significant pains in the joints of my hands and wrist following sparring and mitt work. Essentially, when I would work on a bag my hands would be fine, however any time the force of an opponent/partner was thrown in the mix, I was hurting and having to ice my hands and wrist.I think the problem is that the evergel material, while cool and comfortable, just isn't giving enough support to sustain significant striking. If you're a fighter and want a GREAT bag glove, then go ahead and get them. But if you want sparring gloves or dual use, you're better off plunking down the extra change to get a different... Without gel, my knuckles get very sore and take a while to recover. I use TiGear 180" wraps with these gloves and I can hit as hard as I want without fear of hurting myself. An alternative to these gloves would be gel "speed wraps" or pads under conventional wraps with a regular leather bag glove. Personally I find these gloves very convenient and they are big enough to allow me to experiment with different wrap combinations and techniques. I think these gloves are great but no glove will protect your hand if you don't put your wraps on properly underneath. Watch youtube videos if you don't know how to put on wraps. I can't comment on the durability or if they're good for sparring but they seem well made and I don't see why they wouldn't last as long as any other well made bag glove. Definitely a good value. |
